Kirava
By Cassandra
Singular - Kirava
Plural - Kirava
Group - Dawn of Kirava
General Information
Kirava as an individual are small, translucent bats that could fit into the palm of your hand, their noses longer like a fox's and their eyes wide with a golden ring around the edge. Although their skin is seemingly so thin as to see through it, the only thing that you can see is the glow that is contained by their body. There aren't really different types of the creatures as they all are a very uniform race and you will extremely rarely see them by themselves. In fact, the Kirava are so familial that when you bond with one, you bond with an entire family of them. This could mean a large or a small family, but it mostly depends on how much you impress the little darlings.
The bats glow with a pale, white light that intensifies when there are more of them nearby and when they are surrounded by good intentions and emotions. They tend to create such feelings within those that are in a close proximity to them and should anyone be around one of the Matriarchs or Patriarchs, it is rather difficult to be in a bad mood, to be honest.
The most important factor about the race as a whole is that they are rather attracted to the dead. More specifically, their light can be seen by spirits that had recently passed or linger on and it is their duty in their existence to guide the dead to their afterlife. Sometimes, they are not capable of carrying a soul on, but that is based off of the reasons for the spirit's attachment to the world.
They have no technical speech, but instead speak in a series of flashing lights that forms a different means of language. An individual that is bonded to the Kirava family can know what the glowing light patterns mean.
When anyone bonds with the family, they learn the family name and can acknowledge the entire family as such, though if they really desire to name them individually, it is their own prerogative. This always is a foreign name.
Mating Information
The Kirava are, as mentioned, extremely familial. When one from a family is ready to mate, it separates from its initial family, finds a mate that matches its frequency of glow, and creates a whole new family. On rare occasions, instead of creating a new family, it will combine its birthed family with its old one to create an even larger initial group. (This can only occur when you would spend additional star-to-point ratio at the shrine to pay for the Kirava family to "upgrade".) A female Kirava will have between one and three children at a time.
Bonding Information
Darkness, or taint, within a person can dissuade the Kirava, but occasionally they will find that their presence is necessary around even those with an ill demeanor. They believe that it is a part of who they are to ensure all those around them are in a positive mood. Otherwise, they will bond to nearly anyone and are intent in remaining relatively nearby to their bonded. They know how to remain scarce, but they worry about leaving a member of their family alone... and you, being their bonded, are their family.
When they give their name to you upon bonding, it will always be in a language that is abnormal, and always meaning something that relates to a quirk in the family. Personalities for the entire family can be determined rather quickly upon being around the family for an amount of time, sometimes being individualized, other times being one single personality type for an entire family.
Ranks
Note: The only difference of the ranks is the number of Kirava in one family and the amount of power that they have as a whole. The oldest member of the family is the one that primarily controls the others, though they are a very synchronous group of creatures.
"Children", mind you, does not necessarily mean youth. The terms used are to represent lineage. A "child" simply has no children of its own.
Ancient
*****
Within this family of Kirava, you have either a Matriarch or Patriarch (this is slightly larger than the others and has a bluish glow instead of white.). It is often respected by all Kirava, not just the ones within its immediate family due to the fact that the Matriarchs and Patriarchs represent the oldest living member of that family line. Due to this respect, there is never a question of orders.
Additionally, there are 8 'grandparents', 4 'parents', and 7 'children'. (A total of 20 Kirava, including the leader.)
Extended
****
This family of Kirava has 13 members: 4 'grandparents', 4 'parents', and 5 'children'. This rank is the most cooperative of them all since there is no one leader. Instead, like a well-oiled machine, they all work in conjunction of each other in all their tasks, rarely needing any kind of pushing to complete their task.
Traditional
***
Here, you have 2 'grandparents', 2 'parents', and 3 'children'. The grandparents obviously lead the offspring.
Basic
**
These Kirava simply have 2 'parents' and 3 'children. This rank is known to occasionally have leadership issues like any normal family, but otherwise works rather well.
Adoptive
*
The smallest of all the ranks, this rank consists of 3 'children'. They are not necessarily all related to each other, but normally they are siblings. Whether they share blood or not, they always treat each other as if they were family. They can be bonded to as infants or as older Kirava; they just have not found a mate yet.
