General Information
Sharpblades are fearsome creatures, standing on average of six feet tall for the females and seven for the males of the species. Vaguely reptilian in nature, they are bipedial with two powerful hind legs sporting feet bearing a single curving claw that gives them their names, front 'arms' with four-fingered 'hands' capable of moderate manipulation, a tail about as long as their bodies held stiffly behind them for balance, and triangular heads on powerful necks. Carnivorous, their mouths are full of sharp, serrated teeth well-suited for ripping and tearing flesh, and they are remarkable capable of facial expression, scowling and even smiling in a fashion, though even the most pleasant of their expressions is rather alarming. Native to dense jungles, Sharpblades are rather brightly colored creatures. Their base colors vary in the green spectrums, with shades of blue occasionally seen, and markings of red, yellow, black, and orange appearing. Sometimes marking types will pass along bloodlines, though their exact type - spots, stripes, banding, and even more - are almost infinite. What always appears, though, are the bands across the eyes that mark the different ranks of Sharpblades. Surprisingly, Sharpblades are very social creatures, living in packs and all members of the pack sharing in the hunting and offspring-rearing duties. The queen of the pack holds absolute power, until a younger queen is able to unseat her from her position at which time the old leader either remains as an ordinary member of the pack or goes rogue on her own. Amongst the others, the pecking order is determined by challenges amongst the pack, and held by strength alone. Mating Information When a female is ready to mate, she will travel to a deep grove in the jungle and roar to attract potential mates. When these have arrived, they fight to try and win the attention and favor of the initiator. While they are battling, she may, at her discretion, rush at them and attack one combatant or another. They are not permitted to strike back at her, instead having to either endure or avoid her blows. Those that can withstand the attacks of their rivals as well as her's are considered potential mates, and when she is satisfied she will single one out from the others, choosing. Together they will chase off any rejected suitors who refuse to accept the choice, then move off together. While males may initiate a mating battle, their harsh lives require that such battles be solely for the purpose of offspring. Regardless of rank, female Sharpblades will lay between seven and ten eggs at a time. Bonding Information Sharpblade bondings involve bringing the young fresh meat, as much as they can stomach, and being willing to bear the clawing and biting that might come a potential bonded's way as the young ones scramble and even fight for their share. Sometimes the young will also try to intimidate or bully the bondeds, seeking the strongest (or, occasionally, the easiest for them to boss around). What a Sharpblade considers strength varies: it may be the one seen as the fastest, or the smartest, or the one with the best leader. Once chosen, a Sharpblade is very loyal to his new pack, and will not leave it. Ranks Falchion 5* Falchions are the largest of Sharpblades, standing at six feet tall and sometimes even surpassing it by a couple of inches. These queens are the typical leaders of packs, fearsome hunters and cunning strategists. They typically range in the darker end of the green spectrum, making the colors of any markings stand out vividly including the red band across their eyes. Claymore 4* Largest of all the Sharpblade, usually a few inches over seven feet, Claymore are lords who know how to throw their considerable size and strength around. Favoring mighty leaping attack and powerful kicks that bowl enemies over, they are forefront warriors who throw themselves into battle almost recklessly, and for the most part live to tell the tale (if enduring a couple of war wounds for the process). Their markings perhaps predictable bend towards the red, though they have black banding their eyes to help shade them from sun glare. Razor 3* When there is no Falchion in a pack, it is the Lesser Queen Razors that hold sway. These creatures have the height of their seniors but less of the bulk, giving them a sleek, even sharp appearance. Easily identified by the vivid blue band across their eyes, they have some of the more violent tempers of the Sharpblade kind, quick to jump to aggression and take insult, even if it is only one perceived by them. Katana 3* Swift moving and swift striking, the junior lords known as Katanas are almost an elite strike force for their pack. They dash in and attack so quickly they are scarcely seen before the blows land home, and it is only the Claymore's slightly larger size and bulk that keeps these as lesser lords. But in truth, Katanas like things as they are - if everyone is looking at what they perceive as the bigger threat, there's less to look to them, the real danger. They can be any color and have any markings, and their eye bands are a deep royal purple. Scythe 2* Scythe Sharpblades, for all that they are more common than some other ranks, are both some of the most grim and brutal. While the Claymore have the ferocity, and the Katana have the precision to make surgical strikes, the Scythe go about any task as reapers. expressions set in a perpetual stoic line. Unafraid to kill, they are very logical creatures. When they size up a situation, there will be only attack or retreat, and in battle only victory or defeat. They do not let emotion color their battle, nor sway their choices to kill or spare an opponent. The white bands in their eyes are in stark contrast to the green of their bodies, mimicking their stark viewpoint of the world. Stiletto 2* Stiletto are the most feminine of the Sharpblade species regardless of actual gender. Graceful in all forms of movement, they are slender of body and face. Some consider them quite lovely, their coloration and markings much softer of hue and boundaries, blurring into one another instead of possessing the sharp lines their fellows have. Even the rose along their eyes almost seems to blush across their faces, rather than lay like a mask. Surprisingly, or perhaps not so, they are content to follow what the leaders of their pack say, happy in their role as hunters and protectors of the young, and teachers when the duty falls to them. Fan 1* Fans whether they are male or female are both the most populous of the species and the most varied in personality. some are dour, some as friendly as their kind can get (by which means they will gladly take food from your hand and not the hand with it), some are fiercely protective, some couldn't care less. About all that can be said for them is that they always exhibit the extremes of emotions, both the highs and lows, and can snap from one to another at a moment's notice. Their eye-masks gleam a bright orange, reflecting their vibrant, if not always chipper, moods. |
